EDUARDO REVEALS ARSENAL SADNESS
Arsenal striker Eduardo has spoken of his sadness at not being able to establish himself at Arsenal after the horrific injury he suffered at Birmingham a few years ago. Eduardo completed his transfer to Ukrainian team Shakhtar Donetsk on Wednesday after three injury-ravaged years at Arsenal. He ended up spending more time in the Arsenal Hospitality than on the pitch.
EDUARDO COULD BE ON HIS WAY
Arsenal striker could be moving on after failing to hold down a starting place at the club. The Croatian has been trying to regain the form that saw him become one of manager Arsène Wenger's first names on the team sheet.
But the double fracture suffered in the game against Birmingham City seems to have affected his psychological state of mind as well as his physical recovery.
Eduardo, affectionately known as 'Dudu' by the Emirates faithful, could be looking for a move away from the physically-demanding Premier League, preferring a move to one of the European leagues.
RODELLEGA TO JOIN EDUARDO?
The Wigan striker Hugo Rodallega has told the Sun that Arsenal have made an offer to Wigan for his services, to link him up with brazilian Eduardo.
The big, strong Colombian international had already said in April that he felt ready to join a top Premiership club, and the Wigan chairman Dave Whelan agreed that he wouldn’t stand in his way if a big club came in for him.
Rodallega said today: “‘I don’t know if I’ll stay at Wigan but I do know Arsenal have made an offer for me.”
Eduardo linked to Lyon
Arsenal hit-man Eduardo is believed to be on the transfer radar of French club Lyon, according to the News of the World, which is well respected in sports betting circles.
The Croatian has failed to impress this season at the Emirates, with many believing the former Dinamo Zagreb forward has never fully recovered from his horrific leg-break suffered against Birmingham City during 2008-09.
EDUARDO HAPPY WITH GOAL
Arsenal striker Eduardo da Silva admits his FA Cup goal against Burnley last season is among the best he's ever scored. The stunning effort was struck in only his second appearance in over a year after recovering from a broken leg and dislocated ankle.
"I remember the ball was played down the left side," Eduardo told Arsenal TV Online. "Andrey Arshavin got the ball on the byline and passed to Gibbs. With his first touch Gibbs passed to Song and Song found me. It was a good ball, well timed. When a good ball comes and you are in the right place, it makes everything easy.
EDUARDO STILL CAN'T WATCH
Eduardo da Silva still won't watch the tackle that could have ended his career.
It was two years ago on Tuesday that a lunging challenge by Birmingham's Martin Taylor left the Arsenal striker floored with a broken fibula and an open dislocation of his left ankle.
Eduardo was sidelined for a year and did not enjoy regular first-team football again until this season.
'I haven't seen (the tackle), no way, and I don't think about it or talk on the subject,' he told Brazilian website Globoesporte. 'I don't like to be reminded of negative things, I only try to think positively.'
